Individual Assignment 1: Qualtrics Tutorial
You work for Henry Evers Inc. The company does an onboarding process for new hires that is divided into Onboarding Sessions for 4 departments – Finance, HR, Operations and IT spread over the first 2 years after joining the company. The onboarding sessions rotate the new hires through a training program on the different IS systems used at different locations of the company. The purpose of the survey is to gather information on whether the onboarding program has been useful for the new hire employees ( <= 2 years on job).
You decide to layout the Survey as follows:
The next step would be to have a demographics question to ask how many years they have been with the company. You want to sub-divide the data collection by the following time buckets:
· 0 – 1 year
· 1 – 2 years
· 2 – 3 years
· 3+ years
You do not want anyone who has been in the company for more than 3 years to take the survey questions as that would be irrelevant.
It would be beneficial to ask each respondent what their age is as you think there might be a spread based on the age of employees. You believe a slider question would be best to capture this response.
You want to next capture which office the respondent works in. The company has three primary corporate offices at Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Harrisburg and a few other very small regional sales offices spread across the country. Some employees work in more than one of the three locations by splitting their time between them in a month. The other regional offices hire employees and train them locally. Letting them take the rest of the Survey would skew your data.
You next want to segregate the data based on the department they work in. The company recruits new hires for the following departments: Finance, HR, Operations and IT. For anyone who works in any of these 4 departments, you want to find out the effectiveness of the onboarding program by asking them their opinion on the following questions:
1. The Onboarding program introduced them effectively to the routine daily tasks they do as part of their current day to day work
2. The onboarding program provided enough depth that lets them handle complex non-routine situations that come up occasionally in their day-to-day work.
3. They feel that they need any further training beyond the onboarding program.
You believe that it would be best to not ask the above questions on a binary Yes/No scale, but rather do that on a 5-point scale ranging from “Strongly Disagree” to “Strongly Agree”.
If they chose “Disagree” or “Strongly Disagree” to any of these options, you would ask them if the shortcomings of the onboarding program have caused them any work-related stress that they have found difficult to handle. If they answer in the affirmative, it would be important to ask them if they need any therapy sessions to help them with their stress.
If they responded by saying they do not strongly agree to either question 1 or 2 on the training effectiveness question, then ask them to enter a brief writeup of what curriculum items they think should be added to make the onboarding process better.
If the respondent is in IT and responded with either a “Agree” or “Strongly Agree” to the 3rd question on the need for additional training beyond the Onboarding program, ask them if they have looked into the company’s free LinkedIn IT learning hub.
