Overview

This task requires each student to individually conduct research into interactive wayfinding, guided Project design brief (https://canvas.sydney.edu.au/courses/61353/pages/design-brief-major-design-p

Individually, you will:

1. conduct secondary/desk research to explore the broad project context of interactive wayfinding

2. propose a potential project area for improving interactive wayfinding

3. develop an initial research plan for gathering primary, human-centred data from students

4. conduct primary research using your initial research plan

Once this assignment has been completed, it will form. part of your project group's collective resea inform. the design solution for the Major Project.

Timeline

It is important to attend lectures and tutorials to fully understand this assignment and its connectio thinking process.

Secondary research will be conducted during Week 2 tutorials and in your own time, using literatur internet searches. Broad areas you could research include, but are not limited to, existing internatio campus wayfinding, mobile wayfinding, hybrid wayfinding and AR wayfinding.

Secondary research data will be documented using visual note taking and mapping. Templates wil partially completed in tutorials. From the secondary data you will propose a potential project area f interactive wayfinding.

Initial research plans will be drafted during Week 3 tutorials and in your own time. Templates will be partially completed in tutorials.

Primary research will be conducted using interviews in Weeks 3 & 4, during tutorials and in your ow student will conduct three interviews. Support for conducting interview will be provided in tutorials forms will be supplied. Primary research data will be documented using audio recordings and trans data collection and documentation will be provided in tutorials

Visual report details

The final submission will take the form. of a 7-10 page A4 visual report (1000 words), and will conta

1. An introduction to the Major Project context, based on your understanding of the design brief a research

2. A knowledge map of your secondary research that documents at least 10 core insights, using v

3. A stakeholder map for one form. of wayfinding you have researched, using the supplied templat

4. A power map for one form. of wayfinding you have researched, using the supplied template

5. An outline for a potential design project area, including justification based on your secondary re mapping

6. An initial research plan for user interviews (1-2 pages), using the supplied template

7. Transcripts for the three interviews you have conducted

8. Any questions that remain unanswered after your initial research and require further investigatio

9. Consent forms for the three interviews you have conducted must be scanned and put in the Ap Appendix is not counted in the report's page limit)

10. An Appendix (see below for details)

All reports are submitted via Canvas and a Turnitin report will be generated to check for academic not flatten your report or save it as an image as a Turnitin report will not be generated. If a Turnitin r generated, you will be asked to resubmit the assignment and marks will not be released until a rep generated.

Ensure your report is saved as a pdf, doc or docx, and is identified with your name and unikey in document.

Assessment criteria

Assignment 1 will be assessed according to the following criteria (marks out 20):

C1: Creative and purposeful use of visual note taking (5)

C2: Thoughtful exploration of the problem/opportunity areas (5)

C3: Evidence of thorough research informing submission, including the citing and referencing o

C4: Clear articulation of your proposed project area and initial research plan (5)

C5: An appendix, following the outline in the assignment details (0 marks, but mandatory)
