Country Analysis Paper – Trade Distortions
Paper Due: April 24, 2024 before 11:59 pm

Analyze the effects of tariffs, sanctions, and/or quotas, on the country of your choice (a financial restriction or IMF requirement may also be a good choice). Your analysis must include:
1) Macroeconomic Data & Analysis – Data and Macro-issues were due March 6, 2024 (15 pts)
2) A trade analysis, Trade Data – Your first thoughts were due April 7, 2024 (10 points)
3) A “picture” of your country –due on April 8, 2024 (11 points)
4) Balance of payments – Due Monday, April 14, 2024 (7 points)
5) The bibliography and graphs are due Sunday, April 21, 2024 (10 points)
6) A Trade distortion analysis – Due April 24, 2024 (40 points) (<= changes to Biblio too)
A full two page minimum of Macroeconomic Analysis and a full two pages minimum of Trade
Analysis not including graphs or tables … double spaced, of course: including (at the least), economic growth in the country (real GDP), interest rates, inflation rates, exchange rates, labor conditions, industry competition, trade, tariffs, quotas, and industry growth. MAKE SURE TO USE DIVIDER HEADINGS! 2 sections, as stated above, a minimum of 4 pages before the bibliography and a separate page of 3 graphs (your choice). For your trade portion this can include Brexit, the IMF, COVID- 19, the Wars, or other issues the country may have (detailed).

Unfortunately, we cannot provide funds for you to do an inspection visit!!! ;-) However, if you are able to find evidence (however subjective) from those who have traveled to the country (including yourself), please include them (as well as an assessment from yourself to the validity of the “expert’s” opinion).
