*Pass requirements: Students are required to attempt and submit all assessment tasks and achieve an overall mark of 50 or above to pass the Unit.

The purpose of these assessments is to help you:

• Deepen your understanding of corporate finance concepts.

• Gain insight into current industry issues.

• Apply your knowledge to analyse real companies.

• Prepare for potential employer interviews.

The second assessment for this unit is the "Portfolio." As defined by Segers et al. (2008), a portfolio is a purposeful collection of learning examples gathered over time, providing visible and detailed evidence of competence attainment. MyLab offers adaptive online learning experiences, enabling students to work at their own pace on calculation-based problems. Integrating MyLab homework into this Portfolio aims to enhance student engagement and achieve unit learning outcomes. Students, already familiar with MyLab from the prerequisite unit, will receive weekly homework questions aligned with lecture topics. Tutorials will provide guidance on solving calculation-based problems. This approach leverages existing student experience with MyLab for effective assessment.

The Portfolio will be assessed based on MyLab Homework. Students will be pre-assigned a few calculation-based questions, totalling 30 marks for each topic. They are required to complete and submit all questions by the end of week 10 (Sunday, May 5, by 11.59 pm AWST). It is highly recommended that students complete and submit on a week-by-week basis to avoid excessive pressure at the last moment. The flexibility of a single submission deadline allows students to complete assessments according to their preferences and manage time effectively amid various commitments.

The topics assigned for the 'Portfolio' assessment include:

Portfolio Assessment 1: Introduction and Real Option

Portfolio Assessment 2: Cost of Capital

Portfolio Assessment 3: Financial Statement Analysis

Portfolio Assessment 4: Capital Structure

Portfolio Assessment 5: Payout Policy

Portfolio Assessment 6: Capital Budgeting and Valuation with Leverage

All of the above six topics will be assigned to students, each carrying 30 marks. The average of the best five scores among these six topics will be calculated and contribute to the assessment weight, amounting to 30% of the overall unit grade. For every question, students will get the opportunity to attempt twice.

In the homework section of your MyFinance Lab, you will find that most (not all) of the topics have three parts: Practice Dynamic Study Module (DSM), Practice questions, and Portfolio Assessment. DSM will help you understand your own level of understanding of the topic. Practice questions are very similar to your tutorial questions and end-of-chapter questions, and Portfolio Assessment is the actual assessment.

Please log into MyLab Finance via the link in your Corporate Finance BlackBoard. Navigate to 'Do Homework' on the left side panel, and things will become much clearer.

For any further clarification, please don't hesitate to contact your tutor, Instructor or lecturer.
