PART 1
In all ages there are no shortage of stories about black,there are also no shortage of
people who done work about blackness.As the contrary of white, black is always an
import race element but not important race.In fact,there are no black or white people
in the world , only narrow mindedness and prejudice in people’s mind.
Blackness,a noun never been forgotten through out the time,there are huge number of
people including black people themselves they done gigantic works about it,they
aimed to work out a theory about what on earth is blackness. But theory and
blackness,they are originally exist in a paradoxical way,as Gordon shown in the
context “Theory,in other words,faces doing what Freud attempted to do with
Freud,namely,really analyze itself.Blackness,in all its metaphors and historical
submergence,reaches out to theory,then ,as theory itself,understood as
self-reflective,outside itself.”(page 4 of the context) Blackness can not leave out
theory but it reaches out to theory and it reflect blackness itself.
In fact ,on one hand blackness is a kind of theory,and on the other hand blackness is
the dark side of theory.Blackness can not leave out theory ,as well as it can not leave
out black,but blackness and black are in an awkward relation. “Theory in black, then,
is already a phobogenic designation. It occasions anxiety of thought; it is theory in
jeopardy”(page 2 of the context ) Theory of black exist for long time,but people who
raised out blackness were mostly white people.In those blackness, the role of black
played were just shared their stories , while the white people studied the stories with
their own analysis and then reached out their theory.But in his view, Gordon is
confused why black people can not do the same as white? They just can raised
blackness by themselves,after all only black know black best. There would be no
blackness without black, as well as no theory without human being,and black and
white have the same name of human being.
PART 2
After reading the text, I got some basic understanding of what kind of theory
feminism mainly in terms of what feminism presents and who are the subject in the
study of feminism. Feminism is a theory which is opposed to sexism. Thus,it is not
surprising that it is often considered as a theory doing good for women, in particular a
very special group of women and making women more privileged than men, ignoring
the fact that feminism is a theory simply aimed at ending sexist oppression.White
women are dominant in the study of feminism. They attempt to make the black
women share their experiences and stories which are used to be materials for the
study of feminism. The black women, however, are inclined to express their support
for feminism rather than call themselves as feminist in order not to be misunderstood
as a feminist. This can not change the need of black women to participate in the study
of feminism for they are the best spokesmen in feminism.
